Ain't Life Strange?

I’m It!

Filed under: Family, Glorious, I LOVE IT!!, Looking Within, On Being Me — Chantal @ 5:03 am

Maybe she sensed my overwhelmedness that I subtly alluded to in my previous post (ya think?!) and thought I needed a distraction (I did),  but Sorrow (http://sorrow11.wordpress.com/2008/01/30/meme-from-wild-hare/) has mercifully tagged me with the following:

1. Pick up the nearest book (of at least 123 pages).
2. Open the book to page 123.
3. Find the fifth sentence.
4. Post the next three sentences.
5. Tag five people.

Nearest book:  “For One More Day” by Mitch Albom:

Was Pittsburgh really scouting me?  “What if they are? he said. “It don’t change what you gotta do, Chick.”

I just read that passage today as a matter of fact, on my afternoon break, and those words jumped out at me…..it don’t change what you gotta do.   The rules of this tag don’t say that I should try & figure out how this quote applies to me personally, or that I should be analyzing what the quote means.   But I will anyway, hehe.

The big picture might hold the promise of something really big (hence it being called the big picture), but getting there, accomplishing daily what we do, is where the dream actually lies, regardless of what the goal is or what the payoff could be.

I can dream all I want about being nominated for the Giller Prize, it doesn’t change that I need to write often everyday all the time as much as possible.

I can dream great things for my children, it doesn’t change that I need to parent them with a loving heart and a strong mind often everyday all the time as much as possible.

I hope to share my life completely with my soulmate, it doesn’t change that I need to communicate with him in all the ways I know how often everyday all the time as much as possible.

By stringing together all those loving acts of “gotta do’s”, and by forgiving yourself daily for your shortcomings, you come to realize that in the big picture, all those little things really do matter.

Love,

Chantal xoxoxo

P.S.  I’m supposed to tag five other people with this, but I had a hard enough time just trying to figure out how to trackback to Sorrow…..so if you feel inclined, I invite you to find your nearest book, follow the rules, and post your results on your own blog, or leave it as a comment on this post, or just do it for the sheer joy of doing something pleasant.   Nobody has to know!

  4. This sounds like a great read too. I love to hear what other people are reading, especially when my pile gets low. Now, it looks like I will have many good options on the horizon for a long while. Happy reading!!
